Gum Springs Cemetery

Gum Springs Cemetery, is occasionally referred to as the Carson Cemetery because of its proximity to the town of Carson where there was a school, Baptist church and store. (However, there is already a Carson Cemetery in Fannin County just north of Savoy.) The hard water in the area tended to "gum up" the laundry, so the name "Gum Springs" came to be applied to the area including the cemetery.

The Gum Springs Cemetery Association had a wonderful website which disappeared from the Web in late February 2009. We are trying to find out where it went. Check back for further details.
