Henslee Cemetery

The Henslee Family Cemetery was reported by Floy Hodge in 1970 as "totally destroyed by cattle". We are pleased to report that remnants of the Henslee Cemetery were located in July of 2008. In fact, this cemetery had been located in 2007 but, with no legible stones, was misidentified as the Scott Family Cemetery. The Scotts had, apparently, owned the land after the Henslee family.
In July of 2008, Debby Crofford, Larry Standlee and Jerry Suitor, set off in search of the Scott Family Cemetery to acquire some GPS coordinates and photographs. They returned some hours later with GPS Coordinates and photos of the Henslee Cemetery and wearing some pretty triumphant grins! The crafty application of some water to the previously illegible Scott markers showed that they were not entirely illegible AND not at all Scotts...at least not so far.
There are, perhaps, twelve to fifteen stones in the cemetery. At least three stones contain some legible information. Several other stones have potential for yeilding more information but excavation and renovation efforts will first have to occur.
