John Payne Henslee and his wife, Sarah Suiter moved to Fannin County shortly after statehood from Cherokee County, AL where they had lived for about 10 years. They came with all 15 of their children, including their eldest son, Charles Phillip Henslee, whose wife had died in AL, leaving him with 4 small children. He moved in with the rest of the family and never remarried. His mother had raised 15 children, so 4 more didn't seem matter. Some of their children lived and died in Hunt County, TX.
