Douglas Ray Chaney, 65, 1000 East Main Street, Honey Grove, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 1976, at Sam Rayburn Memorial VA Center hospital, Bonham.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Cooper-Sorrells Chapel with the Rev. Bob Lee, Methodist minister as officiant. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were O. A. Cunningham, J. D. Thomas, Joe Ware, Dee Cunningham, Jim Mills and Cliff Fisher.
Mr. Chaney had been in ill health for several years and was in the hospital for two and one half weeks at the time of his demise.
Born October 4, 1910 in Lamar County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Chaney, he married Billie Ware in 1930 and she died in 1942. He married Beatrice Cunningham August 21, 1949.
Mr. Chaney was a veteran of World War II and a member of McKenzie United Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Chaney of Honey Grove; his mother, Mrs. Lillie Chaney of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Simpson of Keller; one son, Larry Chaney of Ropesville; three sisters, Miss Ruth Chaney of Dallas, Mrs. Ramonell Fisher of Dallas and Mrs. Faye Mills of Kansas City, Kans.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
