Services Held Tuesday For C. A. (Arthur) Riddlesperger
Clayton Arthur Riddlesperger Jr., of 1009 East Main St., Honey Grove, died Sunday, February 1, 1976, at 7:05 a.m. in Hermann Hospital, Houston, where he had been in the hospital about a month prior to his death. He had been ill about two months.
Funeral services were held at Cooper-Sorrells chapel in Honey Grove at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Bob Lee and the Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating.
Burial was made at Oakwood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
Active pallbearers were Kenneth Witcher, Roy Doyle, Joe Huffer, Hoyt Ivey, Jack Courson and Klyce Craven.
A Malakoff native, he was a son of Clayton Arthur Sr. and Idella (Tidmore) Riddlesperger, born April 29, 1909. He married Ruth Burroughs June 1, 1937, at Tyler.
An elementary school principal in Henderson County for 10 years, Mr. Riddlesperger moved to Honey Grove in the 1940's and opened the Triangle Grocery where he had been in business until he became ill a short time ago.
He was a graduate of Lawn Morris Jr. College and North Texas State University, Past District Deputy Grand Master Dist. No. 3, Past High Priest Honey Grove Chapter R. F. No. 142; Past Dist. Deputy High Priest Dist. No. 52; Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 164 of Honey Grove.
He was a master sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, and also a member of the McKenzie United Methodist Church of Honey Grove.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Mrs. Ruth Riddlesperger; one daughter, Mrs. Bob Meade Lane, Honey Grove; one son, Clayton Riddlesperger, Richardson; one sister, Mrs. Walter P. Gibbs, Lufkin; two brothers, James W. Riddlesperger, Denton; George W. Riddlesperger, Malakoff; and three grandchildren.
